Meet Your Instructor

Kids Sushi Party is brought to you by Junko Motoyama!
Born in Saga Prefecture, Japan, Junko has taught in schools across Japan, London, and New York. She currently serves as the head instructor for an afterschool program at a public school in Manhattan, while also working at a children's museum in the Bronx.
In 2015, she introduced sushi classes to elementary students at the Science Adventure Kids Summer Program, which became immensely popular. Encouraged by her daughter, Junko decided to pursue a role as a sushi instructor. She has engaged with children of all ages—from preschoolers to high school students—at various events, including birthday parties, school fundraisers, and afterschool or summer programs.
Junko enjoys watching kids create their own sushi rolls, explore the rice, select their ingredients, and express their creativity. This hands-on experience not only fosters their cognitive, fine motor, and sensory skills but also enriches their social and cultural awareness.
Cooking is a science.
Sushi making adds a little magic.
